Just A Boy

They thought him a strange man who's mind had gone array,
with yellow teeth and matted hair, and useless wasted days.

Look past his unkempt outward form, but deep into his eyes.
There lies a lad who was never told the value of his life.

His mom, a lovely lass she was with days filled of wine and confusion.
His dad caressed his flask and pipe while reigning in off-colored delusions.

No one to stroke the lad's fine brown hair or bounce him on their knee.
No words of love or true concern of all the boy could be.

And now a man with no direction, no dreams to dream or birth.
Just lonely, haunting, frightened eyes lost to societies girth.
