what a soulful and poignant rendition of the 'star-crossed lovers' ideal...it's always so sad, isn't it, especially the moment of realization, when poems like this are born. love your imagery and word choice, you said exactly what had to be said, and got out of dodge. admirable.

You always bowl me over with your angles on the way you express just that special "something"! Always in a neat and concise way that is just so precise and yet fits in so cleverly with the image or scenario that you paint. I think in pictures, and it reminds me of shuffling a pack of cards, somehow. You are a craftsman/woman(!!) and I get the sense of you having very acute vision and good spatial awareness - are you an architect or something? Your words sing true, with 'timing is everything,' for unless both are willing and able to work on the relationship, it's simply, not going to work.
It's sad, but so many have lost and watched their chance to happiness and love, fade with the light of day.

Reminds me of the parable of the seed that fell on rocky soil, it grew but then died for lack of soil to spread its roots. We don't always know when love will take root but we must have rich soil for it to grow when it does.

Oh Sandy that is the trouble with love...it is so hit and miss. You wait and wait for the right one then when you give up and settle for second best. Mr/Ms Right seems to always come strollong along. A little sad this one but really well written.

This is so sad Sandy. Love found and then lost. I've never had the real love of a man, so I cannot compare, but I can relate to having the love of a mother, and then losing that love to her treachery. Thnx for sharing Sandy.
