modern ghost and monster tales just raise the chillblains on you, and this story/poem is no different! i could see the swamp outside your house..great expression and writing!

A scary bit of southern swamp gothic at its best. The sense of dread is fully palpable in these lines and the language engagingly lyrical. An enjoyable read.

Birgit,

I knew something grey and green that lived in the bayou behind my house in Louisiana, it was a gator. Five feet long. I wouldn't go out there to save my life, no way, uh-uh. Would hear it calling in the night...shivers. This write evokes that memory, that I haven't thought of in 12 years. Well done, chilling write, hauntingly penned and illustrated. Thanks. :)

Scarey stuff, glad I don't live handy I think I'd be afraid to go outside aafter dark. Vivid images, sounds and ssmells captured here to make the reader feel what the writer is describing.
