A quirky little poem about stress on Thanksgiving Day
Thanksgiving! Turkey Day!
At two o clock the family is here
Everyone who is so dear
Sits at the table waiting for
the food coming through the door
but dinner will be late
I hope at least it will be great
Thanksgiving, turkey day
Hooray hooray!
The potatoes don’t want to mash,
Children having a screaming bash
The gravy burnt and lumpy
I’m slowly turning grumpy
I burn my hand on the stove
And drop the bottle of clove
The dogs are in the way
Hooray hooray!
The TV is blaring
And Grandpa is glaring
At the children running and jumping
Soon heads will be bumping
My nerves are frayed
The food it is delayed
The mood is turning grey
Hooray hooray!
I make new gravy real fast
The potatoes mashed at last
Everyone happily munching
Below the dogs are crunching
On scraps from the table’
Handed down by aunt Mable
We all survived the day
Hooray hooray!
