Prologue: I don't know very much about electricity. What I do know is that a Positive and a Negative can really cause the sparks to fly!....lol (wink)
________________________________________

Where is the beast of burden
That you promised you’d be for me
So short a time has past
And now you call yourself the oppressed steed?
The weight of your imagined tons
Has blinded you to truth and gain
And all that you seem to focus on
Are your thoughts of denial and pain
Nothing has changed except for the better
And you pine your time away
For those dreams that haven’t happened yet
While neglecting the joys and treasures of today.
Do you not see the beauty that surrounds you
Are you blind to the love that you hold
Can your hands not feel the richness
Of your satin pillow’s fold.
Do your ears not hear the music
In the children’s laughter when at play
Do you not feel a sense of accomplishment
When the fruits of your labor you survey?
For much too long, have I felt this separation
Too long, have I felt as an outsider.
While your eyes gaze into a world I don’t see
I can see this breach getting wider.
Do I sit in silence and wait
As I’ve been doing for so long?
Allowing you your time of solitude
While you only ponder the things that are wrong?
It’s the same ship that we’re sailing in
And if I discover a leak
Should I take immediate action for safety?
Or just let myself go down with the ship?
I’m taking out my life jacket
That I’ve had with me for so long
I’d like to rescue both of us
But I can’t even get you to put yours on!

Haha! Probably shouldn't be laughing at this serious and poignant piece, but hell, struck me as funny. Like the way you string those words together.

Poet, in the word in which one has chosen to venture into, very often ones being sometimes allows the awful, painful memories that many others have no concept nor could they without being on the frontlines to overwhelm one. Yet, with the love and support of ones life partner the “good memories” can easily be brought to the foreground with their unyielding guidance, and if need be “a black iron skillet” may help do the trick … lol. However, one can only lead a horse to water, but one can never make it drink from the “fountain of life.” Thank you for sharing your wonderful, thought-provoking composition. Take good care and be well.

Love these dueling compositions between you and J. Allen, Leah, and I'd like to read more of them!

Love your little prologue, too!

hmmmnnn well this sort of says so much and to ignore such a straightforward and honest a homily would truly be madness, but...you have held out the life jacket now it is his call to either sink or swim, for you the shore is closer then you think. Great write Leah,

Felix
