I had an inspirational thought today of just how valuable YOU are!

I was just thrown a cure today! It was so near but so far away. Before long, it was gone with the wind! But, I am at bat again and the sky is the limit! Still, this world is a better place with you in it... For because you are reading this, you are a poets BEST friend! For without you what's the point of writing again and again? You are the one who reads these newly created poetic songs Yes, you are most appreciated, and highly valued to all poets For without someone like you, we can toil and write all day long... We can have the most creative, lovely lines and exciting things to write But if there is no one to read them, the whole connection is gone We might as well turn off the sparks, the thoughts and the creative lights. So, thank you again, for taking the time to read all of these lines.. You are indeed, A POETS BEST FRIEND! Bravo! Three cheers to you! Amen! Amen! Amen! 7/25/2024 .JMD

WELL...I AM THINKING OF THE POETS OF YESTERDAY THAT WERE NOT POPULAR AT ALL BACK THEN, BUT ARE TODAY. YET, THEY BEING POETS, WERE GIVEN MESSAGES THAT ADDRESSED NUMEROUS SUBJECTS AND PURPOSES AND...THEY WROTE THEM AS THEY WERE GIVEN THEM. I SAY THAT TO SAY...OUR POETRY MAY OR MAY NOT GET READ THAT MUCH TODAY BUT, WITHOUT A DOUBT, OUR INSPIRATIONS WILL BE READ. THIS IS THE FAITH A POET MUST HAVE AS THEY WRITE FOR TODAY, AND TOMORROW...FOR ONLY OUR 'MUSE' KNOWS. THANKS FOR SHARING, JOHN. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Yes, readers are important. But, the mere act of writing the poem, of putting together thoughts that need grounding in one way or another, well, that need is not dependent on readers. I believe deeply spoken poems are the result of a person needing to express ideas in lyrical form that might afford a new consideration of that subject by the reader... and by the poet alone.

You and I have that in common. I am so grateful to those who read my work because that means I'm succeeding at the whole reason I write, and that is simply to touch the reader in some way.

Well said. I'm reminded of the old saying: If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? We can write as much as we want, but in the end we need an audience and connection to others.
