There Is (still) A Light

It is so tight, so close,
So utterly cramped, choking,
Dark smoke drifting,
Rough stones cutting, scrapping
My soul.

In this tunnel,
There is a light
But it is so far,
So far...so far up ahead—
Sometimes I lose hope.

Could I wash the scent
Of the past from my skin
As I would the smell of
Rotting vegetation,
I would...or would I?

Here in my tunnel,
I see straight ahead,
Yet my vision goes beyond these walls,
Reaching you somewhere,
Wherever you are.

You do answer, in your own way.
You, my lord, my salvation,
My spiritual ascent, you do answer.
When I lay my head on the cutting stones,
Your voice penetrates my mind.

In this tunnel,
There is a light
But it is so far,
So far...so far up ahead—
Sometimes I lose hope.

When the walls come crushing in,
I worship every moment we’ve spent
Knee-bent, rigid in prayer.
When the light grows suddenly bright,
I know you, my lord, are still there.

Hey, what's up with this new thing? :)

Although I do realize that this seems a religious poem, it is not in the manner most will think. Worship, yes....and miss, dearly.

Though not traditional, worship is worship to the one on bended knee. You have a gift for poetry. Thanks for using it.

..my vision goes beyond these walls,
Reaching you somewhere,
Wherever you are. ..

...if I didn't know better I'd say you're seeking the opposite polarity of your OWN Being..your Twin Soul..I like that manner in which you think..
..so glad I found you kindred soul..
Exceptional write...saved it!
Blessings..
