Our La Belle Rouge wrote about letting go, and it inspired one sad Muse to whisper in my ear...
They said that if you really love someone
you should let that someone free to go…
even if unbearable pain broke your heart
and the solitude specter gnaws your soul.
Hold the hand, just by the finger’s tips
the chain will be broken as you let it go,
departure, increasing distance, a blur,
the tears in your eyes will be telling it all.
Who told you, “make the sacrifice now,”
and why the need to be the one that lost?
Why not take a longer moment and ask
Why me, why now, why not more?
Letting go is hard, harder that knowing
that we will not be recipients of love,
because has we hang over the abyss by
the tip of our fingers, we still cling to hope.

The "abyss" may not that deep after all - so better to let go than suffer daily, right? For one, I have soft fingernails and can't hold on to the cliff that long. (Short temper, that is!) Your poem is sad but determined, to go where I do not know.
Letting Go, frees you to be who you really are inside. There is a book called "The Language of Letting Go" it is a very amazing book that I read over and over.

A difficult choice, no doubt!! The heart that knows such pain will always feel the anguish which is one of life's bummers. You write from the heart and still I can feel the hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Though this may make sense intellectually, still the heart might disagree. You captured this dilemma perfectly with the last stanza:
Letting go is hard, harder that knowing
that we will not be recipients of love,
because has we hang over the abyss by
the tip of our fingers, we still cling to hope.
If you really love someone, then your prayers will include the beings utmost happiness, which sadly sometimes does not include your own.

I remember a saying from years back: "Let it go, and if it doesn't come back, it wasn't your's to begin with." Still wise thought today. Good poem, Georg.

Your words ring so true. Whether it is the end of a romantic relationship or a professional relationship whose ending came abruptly, it is often difficult to let go if we still hold feelings. Time helps, distance does too, but letting go can often be very difficult, even if very much needed.
This poem is beautiful and the wisdom within your words speaks of perfection.
Letting go, so hard so heartbreaking and most of the time we just can't do it until we have little or no choice. A deeply touching poem Georg. I've always said those that parrot "it's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved" must never have lost the one they love.
Though it is a hard emotional painful,thing to do,it is the fair thing to do. Love is hard to pin down...your muse has you clinging to hope which may not, in this case, be fulfilled. Excellent as always Georg!

Wonderful write - truly enjoyed reading this. I believe if you love someone that you do have to let them go and hopefully they will return. After just recently doing just that - we'll see what the next while brings.

Hope, always keep hope..
