A manic devil ride me; he ride me,
ride me high—
take me to that cliff, cover up my eyes.
He say, "Son, now fly..."

Devil, doncha ride me.
Doncha ride me, Devil, no more.
Devil, doncha ride me, doncha ride me—
hear: my mind’s so tired an' sore.
Hear: my life’s done broke an' poor.

'S a sweet ride with ya, Devil,
when I'm ridin’ up so high—
I know I gon' crash; I might e'en die.
Still I take that ride.
I still climb inside.

Devil, doncha ride me.
Doncha ride me, Devil, no more,
Devil, doncha ride me, doncha ride me—
see, I'm settlin' up a score; see I
ain' gon' shop in your store.

Keep my angels in bottles,
bottles I refill. Work for health insurance
and to pay my shrinker's bills.
An’ so I get me movin', so damn early ev'ry mornin':
I'm a slave to them twice-damned pills.

Devil, doncha ride me.
Doncha ride me, Devil, no more.
Devil, doncha ride me, doncha ride me—
ain' gon' feed your habits no more;
ain' gon' be no Devil, no more—no, I
ain' gon' be you, Devil, no more.

Oh those bipolar blues...seems like that's all you hear in the news. It is real for people who suffer. Nice poem.
