Synagogue in Capharnaum
As is the custom in the land of Israel
Synagogues are built upon the ruins of another!
Beneath this one the stone floor of the original is visible;
Here Jesus proclaimed the Word of God!
“For I came down from heaven,
Not to do Mine own will,
But the will of Him that sent Me.”
Most times the ears that heard His teaching
Questioned His authority and deity!
“Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph,
Whose father and mother we know?
How is it then that He saith,
I came down from heaven?”
How indeed!
You’d think they would know
The prophecies of their own Scriptures!
That the Old Testament declared in Isaiah 7:14--
“Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign;
Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son,
And shall call His name Immanuel.”
Immanuel – That’s God with us, isn’t it?
“And this is the will of Him that sent Me,
That every one which seeth the Son,
And believeth on Him,
May have everlasting life..."
(John 6:40)
"These things said He in the synagogue,
As He taught in Capernaum."
(John 6:59)
My heart is heavy! I long for Jesus’ return!
