about and so do they.

They are monitoring
Your shopping habits,
keeping Supermarket snippets.
Do you prefer tea or coffee,
Red wine or White?
Museli or Ham and Eggs?

They know.....

Machines are collating
all the little bits of paper
you put your name on,
plucking data from out of air
or sucking light pulses
from cables underground.
Gleaning information from
insurance claims, restaurant bills
and the kind of nightclubs
you'd rather not be seen in
to build up a detailed profile.

They have recorded
All your little pecadilloes.
They know what you bought
at the lingerie counter and in the
shop that sells things you do not
talk to your mother about.

They know where you were
last Saturday afternoon, and
what will happen tomorrow night....

What you do is not against the law
           YET!

                  But when it is,

                              they'll know about you.
