You’re the one who brought Joseph back
From Iraq.
Let me still have the great wife
And the three cats
To amuse me.
So maybe I didn’t pay You
Quite as much attention
As you’re used to.
There was no need to get snippy!
Stealing Joseph back
To Iraq
Was pretty low I thought;
And did You have to send the cancer?
That really sucked.
You damned near lost me on that one.
I mean:
No talking, no singing:
No eating no drinking
And a tube in the stomach?
We’ll have words about that!
But you left me the wife
And the cats stirred
And purred alongside
When I couldn’t move.
So I’ve still got the wife
And the cats
And Joseph is back
From Iraq
Again.

Peter, My good man, your casual but meaningful conversation with God is unique. Indeed, it is almost unheard of these days. I was reassured, reading your verbal bout with the inevitable winner! You have a way with words, so your poem is most enjoyable.
I am sorry about your medical problem, and your son serving in the military. I go back to WW Two, having put in five years in that conflict. My fear is that from the President on down, Americans forget too soon, that the Ambitious Bastards are out there to kill and conquer. Where and how we hit back is for those who are smarter than I... and willing to run for office or make war a career. It appears that, again, the younger, the less history known, and that is always true!

I am sorry about your medical problem, and your son serving in the military. I go back to WW Two, having put in five years in that conflict. My fear is that from the President on down, Americans forget too soon, that the Ambitious Bastards are out there to kill and conquer. Where and how we hit back is for those who are smarter than I... and willing to run for office or make war a career.
