I met a lot of so-called Godly ladies, in my search for a bride
I used many different Christian sites, and scoured the country
far and wide

It shocked me to discover that a mere one out ten
ever read His Word, more often than every now and then.

Some could not remember where they left their Bible, last
Others had their own ideas, said orders and commands, were words
from the past
 
Most went to some church or another, and every Sunday, too
Figuring that made them Holy, and that was all they had to do.

So when she finally came along, I knew she was for me
She loved His Word and obeyed it, ever so joyously!

Now we're engaged, and I'm a very, very happy man
Cause my Daddy sent my heart's desire, in an angel,
   named Jan
