Humility is not a word that draws attention to itself for like it's meaning it does not seek it's own way

But rather seeks the gain of others and works to keep
self importance and self sufficiency in check and at bay

It starts the process of salvation as without it we cannot see our depravity, indifference or ever present sin
It allows us to sincerely fall on our face and beg Jesus to come in.

But as we grow in spiritual prowess, in His Word for wisdom search
and make a decision to move into a leadership role within the church

The self importance that we ran from at the onset of our spiritual trek
can easily sneak right up upon us and our cause our Righteousness to shipwreck

So watch yourself elders and pastors; seek daily for Him your sins to you tell
For humility must be upon you, for the Spirit within you to constantly abide and dwell

It's part of the job to be running things and having your word honored and obeyed
but if you seek not compassion and humility the mission may well be derailed and waylaid

A failsafe you can easily attain is to have a brother or two that counsel you
to listen and watch for subtle signs of transgression in in all you say and do

That bring to you the subtle error that you might otherwise never see
To keep on track to finish the race you must be ever seeking an abundance of compassion and humility.
