The Dark Side

Within all of us dwells a dark side, aching to be free.

It’s inside you and inside me.

Day after day, I hear it screaming to get out! 

Let me out; Let me out, it says.

Thoughts of murder and mayhem fill my head.  Sometimes

I feel like I’m going insane; at times I even forget my own name.

The battle between good and evil rages on;

From sun down until dawn.

In my minds eye I’ve seen heaven and I’ve seen hell.  The blinding

Bright light so beautiful and warm;

That with the blink of an eye becomes a violent storm.

The sky turns to an ominous black, the moon a raging red;

I feel as if I am dead.

It’s pleading to get out! I’m begging to get in!

Every, nerve-ending, standing on edge. My skin creeps and crawls with things unseen.

I don’t know where I am or where I’ve been.

Then all of a sudden, a resplendent light appears;

Bringing smoothing music as it grows near. Then I hear a calming voice

Saying “Come into the light and listen to me, for you are about to become free.

Free from sin and free pain, once again you’ll remember your own name.”
