Little girl Me

I could, in my present state,
Go back and meet the little girl me.
I'd hold her hand and skip and sing,
"Jesus Loves Me", at the top of my lungs.

I'd love the sunshine and love the rain with her,
Or perhaps I'd just watch her from afar and enjoy.
I'd tell her at twelve that its okay to grow up,
But okay to play and be a child of wonder, too.

But when growing up becomes just plain hard,
I'll tell her to be brave and strong,
But that she doesn't have to be strong for everyone,
I'd hold her hand and hold my girl self,
So she won't feel so alone.

And I'd tell her that though she couldn't see it,
She was always good enough.

This one gave me goosebumps, Karen. It's so well written and true. You've described me, as well. I hope I never grow up and that the little girl inside stays with me always.
Peace and love,
CJ

A great message that all children ought to hear over and over again, Karen. Thank you. My "inner child" thanks you too. Love and best wishes to you,

Comforting beautiful words that all children should hear while growing up in a sometimes cruel world... God bless you Karen! ~Chessly

Sounds like really good advice to me. Hope you're able to pass it along to a daughter or a grand daughter someday.

Thanks Dick

This grips the heart with the knowledge that the little girl not only survived to grow into adulthood but into a woman who is wise, compassionate and caring. Like this a lot.

For so many kids the expectation is to "grow up" as fast as they can. Maybe we should help kids be kids as long as they can. Good reflective writing Karen.

Peace,
Dayvid

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
