Poetry by Liana Margiva

When tomorrow comes, you will not be in it,

Vanished, gone as if never existed.

From the faraway lands words of love never reached,

To wake up your loved one from the distance.

Never warmed up her soul with such sweet, tender touch,

Never known to her, that she craved so much.

When tomorrow dawns, it will bring emptiness,

For you will not be there to fill it,

An impossible dream and a beautiful myth,

Dead is love that had never occurred.

Yet the heart will continue to beat as before,

Deep inside your dear image safekeeping,

Keep the love for you secret and won’t tell a soul

How it yearns for your eyes, bitterly weeping.

When tomorrow comes, it will bury the dream

Of the love that was never forthcoming,

Fill the heart with solitude, make it forget

Sheer sweetness of love and a magic becoming.

It will teach heart a lesson to always recall

That in Heavens its fate was secured:

God his verdict returned - stay forever unloved,

Never warmed by love, that is assured.

He sentenced the heart to long years in the dark

Of the dungeon filled up with despair,

Make it weep day and night

With no hope of a flight,

And commiting its angst to the paper.

When tomorrow comes, it will bring misery,

For you will not be there to share it.

Days will pass without you

Heart will beat just for you,

And for you all eternity care.

Heart will keep very deep

Cherished image for ever

Warming up by the ambers of love’s smothered fire.

When tomorrow comes, it will be like all days

Back when heart was of you not aware,

Aforetime when it felt not the bliss of your love,

When your closeness wasn’t yet there.

Short affection of your unpredictable heart

Brought along unfamiliar contentment,

Then it took it away to remind poor heart:

Love’s sojourn is prelude for resentment.

Love invades happy heart and it rips it apart,

Shedding blood and creating destruction,

Makes it moan with pain, again and again

Makes it pay for the bliss of seduction.

When tomorrow comes

Heart will vanish from Earth

Combusted by roaring blaze

As if fire of love that consumed it before

Hadn’t finished its gruesome and merciless chore.

The wind will spread the ashes of cremated heart

Over Earth and oceans, far and wide,

Yet the pain of love spurned will not subside,

Since it stayed for so long deep inside.

Who will know how deep was heart’s yearning for love,

Longing, craving, unable to deal with the fact

That it was never loved and rejected by ones

Who the heart was in love with so deeply.

wonderful, such sadness at what was not to be

It is hard to love a love that never happened. And your lament about it runs very long. But the same thoughts about unrequited love remain in the undercurrent all along.

Sadness runs throughout. Misery is its company. Kind of reminds me of the long Russian winters where people go berserk, stir crazy, or worse because of love either lost or never there at all. And cabin fever.

The sorrows of loving and not being loved, an ancient tragedy that still continue to live in this heart-felt poem.
