I Was Late to the Land Called Golden; I Had Started Early!

It was once upon a time in the past!
So early that morning.
All of us started a journey to a land called Golden.
Joyous, singing, and happy as we embarked on a journey.
Many as we were all,
the same age bracket.
Yes! We move.

Not too long into the journey,
Cries arose to heaven,
some fell asleep forever!
Too young to understand,
and discern seasons and events.
I looked back; they never appeared!
Our shadow never aligned;
though we try making it as human as possible.
It never healed, for we were just flesh and blood.

Some skipped the journey to arrive ahead of us.
There must be magic about this.
Even before the party begins!
I never could explain how.
The rest of us trekked on.
A thorn pierced my foot
I struggled to remove it from my skin.
I was left behind to kill this thorn inside of me.
Now, I am behind everyone.

Let it not be me,
to be killed by this thorn.
I fought back,
and remove the thorn from my flesh.
I smiled as I watched behind me,
seeing that those who were far behind me had caught up.

Frustrated and discouraged!
Dejected and abandoned by the world.
I trekked along to the land called Golden.
The party had started before I arrived.
Some that left me behind,
were happy to see me arrive.
I watched around.
I could only see one sad face,
amongst those that skipped the journey.

But, I have arrived!
I waited to see how it would end.
To see the end of the party,
in this land called Golden!
Painfully! Not everyone could wait!
But, I waited to see the end!

Those who arrived before me didn’t wait,
They left the party before me.
They were satisfied enough.
They didn’t wait until the end.
I waited until the end,
and give the closing remarks!
On the land, called Golden!

Stanley this is a deep poem, penned from the soul. It challenges both the mind and emotions. Enjoyed.

Thanks!
It is about life's journey and the truth essence of time passing. It considers the notion that although some people may reach their objectives or destinations sooner than others, others are left behind; once more, some people never achieve their dreams, but others, with tenacity and overcoming hardships, arrived with authenticity and experience. It also illustrates how different stages of life occur at various periods for different people of the same or different status.

I hope I have not misinterpreted but it appears that you are referring to becoming stable in your life and not going the way of so many others. Reaching that golden place, perhaps retirement, with a good income and savings.

But I could be wrong… I have been many times.

Ron
