Glass Menagerie

This is a short poem about a woman who plays the field of love too many times. She is realizing that as she grows older, her beauty is fading and the fragile, sensitive person she once was has faded and she has become callous over the years.

Glass Menagerie

Fragile heart
Glass menagerie
in a reflection
the beauty fades away

Old fable tells of love and lonely ends
time repeats itself
in new times
the same old trends
Why in contrast must it be
side by side
where you don’t see
until it’s too late

Broken glass
warped and altered
confidence fades
strength has faltered

Looking now in the mirror
you see you’ve paid the price
still a wonder
but not the same
the glass was really ice

... this is a nice poem, and true of some; however, i fail to see the connection to a menagerie, glass or otherwise.

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
