The purpose of nature is to even everything out. The purpose of life is not only to survive, but to take the road of least resistance. It is not the ‘fittest’ that will survive; the average are better equipped to survive and procreate. The strong and the weak are most vulnerable in this race called life. If you stick out above the average, you will be slashed down. If you are dwarfed by the average, you will be trampled down. Nature wants you to be a cheerful and uncomplaining average. So, what the hell, why comply, why be happy, fight this erosion of competence, and take the path of most resistance anyway! Willie Maartens
