Turned thirty and caught the chicken pox from my kids. Despite misery, The Muse brought me this.
Birds explode like stars
on this rainy day.
All the life stuff waves
skinny cold arms,
responding to the empty
caresses of the wind.
My love is here,
in the brown water
breaking ice,
in the thick slurry which
rises in the maples’ trunk.
The wind, blowing in circles
runs avid fingers
across my face and neck,
just as if I wasn’t covered
with scars,
just as if I haven’t
come again
to the beginning of
a newborn
just dead time.
Juliet enjoyed your poem "Chichken Pox Spring, '75."
Do not feel bad it happened to me when in my 35th year
I survived those poxs though, had to laugh at myself once I stopped itching.
However enjoyed your poem immensely, nice flow and imageries all vivid.
Juliet,
What strikes me most is how well this poem works structurally, the first two stanzas set the stage of mood, tone and imagery and then the third, the most powerful and telling, takes it home beautifully, and the ending superb. Excellent!

You have recalled, recreated, and shared the experience very effectively in your verses, Juliet. There is also fine imagery. Thank you. Love and best wishes,
