Nature keeps trying to survive, despite humanities "best" efforts.
This tree might have been
harmonious, but zombies came
chopped off her forearms.
Somehow, despite mutilation,
She lives and branches,
cared for now by us. She
will die earlier than necessary
because of rot at
amputation sites,
homes for bats,
squirrels & finches.
Her Dryad exists, nonetheless,
Shining presence of an
In-dwelling Spirit
I sometimes see from
the corner of my eye--
delicate diaphanous
Bejeweled Botticelli
Pulsing Green
& Sunlight.
Juliet,
Right reverence for and celebration of a beauty, and frustration and anger, too, at the stupidity of vandalism. The final stanza takes the poem to a metaphysical plane, and is masterly.

Silver Maples, one of my favorite trees. Beautifully poignant - man's inhumanities to God's creations continue. Silvered tears running down my face - well done, Juliet.
