The Nightmare

Nightmares--whew!



“Was that
You screaming,
Or the Cat?”
He inquired as
We passed,
Night wanderers
At stair’s foot.

Recall the checkered
Board, the
Sudden Slide Diagonal,
Bishop, Black Holes
For eyes,
Blade bright,
traditional,
Scything—

THIS IS NO GAME

I scream
(Did I?)
Ninja leap
To
Consciousness—

Another
Moonlight
Escape.
