Silence Silence is my only solace A quiet reprieve from the sting Of the unrelenting words Painful reminders of the past All the bitter affirmations Of being unworthy of anyone’s love Silence is my only solace From people’s insanity Human cruelty, inexcusable Grows with the times No words can hurt me When I am too far away to hear Silence is my only solace When I feel I can’t go on A peaceful oasis in the barren desert At times when I feel alone In silence I know I have myself My thoughts soothe the hurt And I have awhile to lick the wounds That cut deeply into my heart And we’ve gone too far When silence is the only solace.

This is beautiful on many levels, but mostly because I go there too, and you have described it so well.. solace, renewal, peace..and even gratitude. Silence speaks volumes !
