Cut the Cord Attached to my momma When I was born I looked at the doctor Ask him what's takin' so long Give me the knife I don't need anyone's help I'll cut the cord if I have to do it myself. Attached to my daddy As I grew to scorn I wait no longer Look who's the stronger then gone Give me the knife I don't need anyone's help I'll cut the cord if I have to do it myself Attached to my wife For the rest of my life We raise a family One by one they too leave I look at her I'm about to die Give me the knife I don't need anyone's help I'll cut the cord if I have to do it myself. Attached to my God I go to cut the cord The knife slapped out by the hand of my Lord "Say there boy I gave you that mouth I gave you a brain You pick up that knife I'll slap you again!" "You'll be cast into hell You think oh well I say you'll have no part I gave you that heart I gave you those eyes So . . . .you. . . .better be wise." Well. . . . .then .. . . . .on second thought If it's just the same LET THAT CORD REMAIN. dWb

At some point, childhood ends for everyone. And some people stay as "children of God" all their lives. Others can cut that cord easily when it becomes meaningless.

You've managed, well, to blend humor and earnestness in a short, honest, heartfelt, write. Your summation, 'Let that cord remain', is a fine exhortation for anyone struggling through trying seasons.
