Crashing Your Tea Party

I was never formally invited

Never ask to be here

So I crashed and burned when I entered the stratosphere

China cups and Tea pots smashed and broken

I was never caught but barely escaped leaving a small token.

I lifted screaming toasts behind silken veil

I mattered nothing! The unjustice of your choices!

And smothered in the lilt of sparkling voices

I raged rocking, behind that spy hole undisplayed-

Must I concede the point? I was betrayed!

Still I drank and drank

And sank and sank

Never reaching the bottom

“Whaa’s up!

 Who keeps filling this sodding cup?”

I lifted the veil, an act reckless and swift

Toys spinning, ghosts dancing, I set down my gift

The others watched as I trembled, eyes flooding with tea

And I knew who had served me as we exchanged stares

Tiny tea pot to-and-fro man of invisible wares.

Smashing the chairs

Throwing the silverware

Somehow the table managed to keep standing there

But no one cared

I just grinned -- running off like a circus bear.

We’ll see

Who gets invited to your next tea party!
