You have nailed the feeling most of us has sooner or later. I think only the truly brave, responsible and loving of us resist this urge to cut loose and call all those we have touched "collateral damage" in our search for solace. We know the pain and sense of rejection we would be guilty of causing in other's lives. Nice work.
"Ah yes!" When one feels this it is the sure sign of a fine poem. You say so very much with just a few words - many poets do just the reverse.
It's the kind of poem one wants to keep as a reference for tomorrow.

Ahhh the elusive fantasy...I think we all wish that we could awaken fresh and start our life anew. No one having expectations of us and the simplicity of life, that we have always dreamed of, would color our days. To be able to be completely fresh with a new love, to experience those special feelings for the first time all over again...that would be so sweet. To not have to fight the tears of past hurts and to be open and free with innocence...Yep, I wanna go there...if you find that place, would you send me the directions? Lovely, moody poem, Michelle..one of your best I believe. I'm gonna save it!
Very nice Michelle, and I think we all must feel this way at times.
