A little fact, a little fantasy, a
little humor. You decide.

Poem Artwork

Windows

A window lets in light
A window keeps out cold
A window dresses up a room
It helps your house get sold.

A window opens up your view
So you can see the world
It keeps a peeping Tom at bay
Till all your clothes are hurled.

So nice how glass and wood combine
In such a useful way
To elevate our sense of self
At any time of day

There are windows to your heart
And windows for control
And windows that show your flawless taste
And windows to your soul

But the window that I love the most
Is quietly out of sight
It’s the one you keep unlocked for me
So I can visit you each night.

I love the whimsy of this and also a chunk of expansive. Then there was the pure delight:

There are windows to your heart
And windows for control
And windows that show your flawless taste
And windows to your soul

But the window that I love the most
Is quietly out of sight
It’s the one you keep unlocked for me
So I can visit you each night.

Edward, excellent use of window as metaphor to craft your quick but lasting story of mindfulness. The day will soon come when the poem inside of you will come to life ---that's when you never stop writing.

Damn nice poem. Windows in all their manifestations. Liked the way you inter-played the humor and the everyday reality of windows.

As you aptly suggest in your poem, a window is not just a window but a symbol that opens worlds upon worlds, particularly that world for you or me. Nicely conceived and executed. John

A sweet write, Edward. I enjoy the flow (rhyme and rhythm) that you have created throughout your poem. Love and peace to you.

I'll take this window of opportunity,
and say this poem was great.
You made it crystal clear why windows,
are something to celebrate.

Love the way your eyes can see beauty everywhere they look, three cheers for the windows, xo

I like your ability to put all of the traits you mentioned above in one poem. You seem to forgot the most important window of all. The browser has become everyone's window on the world in the last 25 years, making many fantasies like you described in the poem come true.

In fact, I have a photo similar to the one you show above. Only the window is from a palatial castle, the woman is blonde, it's in color with fantastic light, and she is in the altogether. I will have to get that photo to you, so you can spruce up this poem with it. ;-)
