Inspired while sitting in a coffee shop one afternoon.

Open your ears and listen. What will you hear?
Judgment and convictions of those who are deaf,
attuning to internal, external voices speaking out,
accepting what may appear as truth on the surface.

Open your mind and search. What will emerge?
Endless possibilities waiting to present themselves
just beyond the fears, the rejections, and the hatred,
past criticism, racism, everything we are is one.

Open your eyes and observe. What will you see?
The sight of a blind man can see beyond any other,
possessing a gift of perfect beauty within his vision,
with the ability to see deep within a person’s soul.

Open your arms and reach. What will you feel?
All those unfeeling, waiting to be embraced,
simply with loving arms of affection, desiring,
hoping they may feel special, wanted, needed.

Open your heart and love. Who will you touch?
The innocence of a child searching for direction,
trusting those they admire, look up to, and learn from,
holding a sacred key to the future now before them.

Open you mouth and speak. What will you say?
Only truth shall emerge, leading all corners of creation,
believing all who are blind shall see past distorted vision,
hopeful all who are deaf shall hear past muffled voices.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
