A Norwegian instrument on a foggy day.
This October day is a kantele Played in a minor key— Foggy harmonics shake wet green leaves Roll over me— Kantele notes roll over Wet green leaves Of trumpet vine Drop their sounds On the dunes On the lake And enter me.

Mysterious, haunting...and somewhat eerie...
I get very strong visual and sound imagery with your words...
It must be my Scandanavian roots coming through...

I can't picture what a kantele sounds like, but I can picture a Native American flute being played to match the emotion and aura of the seaside image in the poem. Sadly haunting, yet eerily comforting.

Loved this wonderful play on words, and the sound of the kantele, though I've never heard one, i had something going on inside my head.

You have brought back wonderful memories. My mother played the kantele. Both of my parents were from Finland. I can still hear the kantele's music dancing across a lake after sauna. So beautiful!!! Norway rocks!!
