A children's nighttime rhyme...

If you could wish when you see a shooting star
What would you wish for
Something near, or
Something far?

Do you see the face of the woman in the moon?
Do you know a song to sing - a pretty little tune?

When you see a butterfly flutter it’s wings
Do you listen for the sound
As the butterfly sings?

When the blossoms are on the apple trees so white and pink?
Do you smell them? The smell is so sweet, don’t you think?

Have you ever tried to blow on a blade of grass
To put between your thumbs to hear a deep whistle - the sound that it has?

Do you know the size of a hummingbird nest?
It’s the size of a thimble, you know, much smaller then all the rest.

Have you ever built roads and tunnels with your toy truck?
Did you invite the ants to play? They could build mountains and might bring you good luck.

Have you ever blown a bubble and watched it so sparkly clear?
Have you ever followed it’s path until it disappears?

Did you say your please’s and thank you’s
At all the right times, because you know, it’s how we show we care, that’s why we’re supposed to?

Do you ask questions and not be afraid to ask
Because if you do, you’re sure to be smarter, quick and fast.

Did you hug someone you love not too long ago?
How nice it is to give and receive, don’t you know?

Don’t you know that you’re the dearest thing to my heart?
You bring me joy and happiness everyday, right from the early morning start.

Don’t you feel so snuggly in your soft bed
When someone tucks you in at night and kisses your pretty little head?

Close your eyes, while I sing to you and hum
Just before - and until - the Sandwoman comes.
