With Open Arms

A sweet endearment to my Grandpa Ryel when I would stay at their home in the country. He would read his Bible daily, not knowing I was watching him at night.

With Open Arms
He drove an old beat up truck
in 1962,
invoking memories of the past, his face, a smile that grew.
Some days he greeted sunrise, on his way to work each day,
read his Bible daily,
each night God showed the way.
His life's example to everyone,
as he lived out on the farm,
step out, step up, but most of all,
love, with open arms.
With open arms, you get a hug,
with open arms, you conquer pain,
with open arms, you show forgiveness,
with open arms, it takes the shame.
With open arms, it teaches others,
the golden rule, it is the key,
do unto others, as we'd have done to us,
with open arms, it'll set you free.

and love Him...and that He's an especially pious man...your poem's
wondering about your Grandpa's qualities...a compass that directed
Him throughout His life...and how your lives are reflected in all
people around you both...
A truly inspiring poem. Thank you for sharing.
Good to see you posting again and remembering your grandfather. I remember both of mine… Hard-working men that life had dealt a hard hand to.
