Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world
 

As the nation watches the political ramblings from both parties, one cannot help but realize how divided we are as a nation and how the hearts of our leaders have been darkened from God’s truth.  I cannot help but wonder why and how the faithful can side with either party when it is clear from the heartbeat of God that NO blessing will be upon a nation whose leaders are not united in spirit with Him.  Benjamin Franklin could not have said it better during the Constitution Convention as he addressed the divided delegates that were at odds over the composition of our Constitution,
 

“Sirs, I have lived a long time, and the longer I live the more prevailing proofs I see that God governs in the affair of men.  And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, how could an empire rise without His blessings?”

 

The two-party system has so polarized this nation that neither Democrat nor Republican will effectively unify this nation – especially with the candidates we have to choose from.
 

Compromise is the issue at hand when it comes to the moral fabric of this nation, especially when it relates to our current leaders and to those jockeying for the presidency.  The loyalties of our leaders are divided from serving “The Republic” (for the people and by the people) to serving their particular party.  The prevailing laws within our nation are being compromised while little is being done to defend our Constitution and the citizens they serve.  Even the personal loyalties to those professing their faith are also being compromised. Leaders are waffling on issues of moral clarity and integrity, which are clearly defined in God’s word.  Still others refuse to accept responsibility for their actions when BOTH PARTIES voted to put our troops in harms way but conveniently lay the blame at the feet of the President, instead of working the problem at hand as one team.
 

We are indeed a divided nation, with blind and self-serving guides leading the way.
 

Dear Heavenly Father,
 

It is my earnest prayer that you would touch the hearts of all political leaders throughout this nation who have a divided spirit so that they will see the errors of their ways.  I pray that you would plant the seed of truth and light within their hearts.  Please send forth the Holy Spirit to enhance their understanding of your will.  Take off the blinders of deception, pride, and self-service so that they would be clear to lead and serve the people of this nation in accordance to Your will.  Give them a Biblical viewpoint on life that would be without compromise and establish a foundation of moral clarity within their hearts.  United this nation again to the tenants of “One Nation Under God” – never to compromise on your moral principles again.
 

For those leaders who are true to the faith, bless them to overflowing and embolden them to take a stand for the Kingdom of God and for Your glory irrespective of political correctness or the pressures of evil people.  For those who are too stubborn to change, remove them from public service.  Replace those individuals with God fearing men and women willing to step up to the plate to make a difference for Your Honor, this Nation, and our People.
