Beyond butter-cupped curvacious hills,
Slow turning, corn churning mills,
Butterflies dance the dusky orchards,
Branches rise over purple orchids,
Lazy pitchforks stoop in rain soaked fields,
Harvesters gather grain, sullen earth yields.
Lightning tears a heavy horizon sinking,
Dark clouds float, silver moon blinking,
It shimmers as a coin on the base of a well,
Ripples formed, vibrates the old church bell,
Vast open terrain silences hopes and dreams,
Giving rise to haystacks of visions and schemes.
It is here boys wait by the iron tracks,
Tomorrow's lunch stuffed in polka-dot sacks,
Thread hanging from around bony knees,
Lonely willows shake in cold night's breeze,
Clambering on board during a one minute stop,
Bed among coal on the carriage roof top.
One thousand miles the wheels trundle west,
Coughing on chimney smoke they pray for the best,
Breathing their dreams as they surface again,
Not disillusioned like the old farmyard men,
Leaving behind mamas and country girls pretty,
For a taste of life in an uncertain city.
Anna...wonderful descriptive write.....this is something I will read again and again...cheers...love n luck....BHUWAN!!!

You have drawn several pictures in this poem, excellent visual art that makes us one with nature. God gave us nature to enjoy it not destroy it. You showed us how to enjoy it. Great. Victor
You have used your words to take us inside the hearts and minds of young men everywhere who have had their own dreams to follow and with very little set out to find a life of their own. Strong images, lovely flow and a sense of hope come out of this write for somthing better.
Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
Imagery is triff yet has a lonesome quality.
High class poetry. Pure artistic word pictures..

A great, descriptive work of art. I can see the hopeful gleam in the boy's eye. So much hope and potential.
I enjoyed this immensely.
