I can't believe all the snow we are getting. It's piled high and the kids can't enjoy it because Old Jack Frost has taken over.

Another Storm Day
January 28, 2026
By Rose Marie Rideout

Snow, snow and more snow
Every where we look or go.
Piled so high, you can't see
Is this how it's suppose to be.

School is cancelled another day
Another storm day is on the way.
No school, They\ve missed a lot
Will they remember all they're taught.

Can't build a snowman or house
Can't slide or even go out.
It's bitterly cold, keep a fire lit
So we don't feel Old Jack's bit.

You dress up in your warm clothes
But you feel the frost bite your nose.
Heavy socks to keep the heat in
It just feels there's no way to win.

You start to shovel, now you know
You're too old to toss all this snow.
Yor back is out, you run out of steam
It wasn't like this when I was a teen.

The years have passed me, now I'm old
Can't do what I use to so I am told.
Pay a boy to shovel the snow for you
Hard work that they don't want to do.

Another storm day, I'll just stay home
I'll just agree to leave the snow alone.
I'm too old for this, so others tell me
I'll look in the mirror and I'll agree.

Another day will pass us by again
Another storm will drive us insane.
When will this end and go away
We'll wait for spring another day.

The price paid for a living as far north as you do. I think there comes a time for everyone that lives in the snowbelt, to learn to give up love of the snow and let younger people handle it. In my youth, the greatest loss of life in the winter was older men having heart attacks shoveling snow.

But from what I hear this is really an unusually snowy and bitter winter for nearly everyone in North America, including those of us in the semi tropics.

Say Something Terrorible v3 by RickthePoetWarrior

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
