Growing Old Together
August 9, 2026
Written by Rose Marie Rideout

When we were young, many years ago,
We never thought of ever growing old.
We saw the beauty inside out hearts,
We knew it was love, from the very start.

The years were quickly passing by,
It didn't matter, how hard we'd try,
Side by side we're growing old together,
Through every season, all kinds of weather.

We don't seem to notice the changes Dear,
Though they're happening year after year.
Our hair has turned to a silvery gray,
Our wrinkles Dear are here to stay.

We still hold hands as we have all along,
We know our love will never go wrong.
We are blessed growing old together Dear,
The beauty have grown more, year after year.

When we were young many years ago,
We never thought of ever growing old.
We saw the beauty in each other every day,
Growing old together, couldn't take that away.

Growing old together was a blessing,
A blessing we'd never change for any day.

When we're drunk on youth it feels like forever - whoosh, WTH did those years go.

Every wrinkle tells a story, I wonder if folk get wrinkles like trees get circles?

You're still highly blest and in full bloom, young Rose

It's very good when you have someone to grow old with. I have that. But it can make it very hard for the one left behind. And that's going to happen, unfortunately.

As you wrote, age creeps up on all of us, almost before we know it's happening. The years fly by faster and the end to a beautiful relationship will eventually happen.
