We need a minute…
at the dawn of a new day
as dark particles disintegrate
and liquid shadows are eaten up
by the grey light of pitiless
time
by the feeling
the growing certainty
that there will soon be nowhere to hide.
Inadequate may be the aquatic
near amniotic hope
that there might be some shade left
some irreverent privacy
just somewhere to conceal
an irrelevant secret or two
so that one could choose
what to reveal at the dawn of a new
century of sentiments, with their infinite
comets that forever light up the sky.
See,
uncomfortable pixels of ironic light
and we become restless…
Wait,
already some broken emotions
like an abortion, lie in agony
under the dictatorship of sharp light!
One wonders if they could be saved
nurtured in the discretion
of benevolent candlelight.
Enjoyed and related to this poem.

Great work, Axilea!
Peace, love and light,
Amber
great choice of adjective here, Axilea -
is an indictment of our time and attitude,
the almost compulsive sticking in of the nose;
yes, there's rescue and solace in candlelight
and the shadows that help us escape and stay ourselves

It resonates and is piercingly observant and well written, and I too love the way you use the light, benevolent and sharp.

You really get to the core of your readers with this poem. Words like amniotic (nice play with aquatic) and abortion and comets. The poem becomes a secret in itself--wanting to be larger than life, but kept half-submerged with excellent control. Ironic light; sharp light; candlelight; grey light of time; comet light-- all bringing to light the disappointment of having no darkness to hide your darling secrets in.
A fabulous, well-written, enspiring poem. I feel sorry for the secrets, so in my den, I'm turning them into moths. --Charlie

what is the nature of this ironic light? is it completely extrinsic--or could it come from within?
