About every 4th month in Peru there's a "huelga" (strike) by store-keepers. Prices double--sometimes triple--overnight, and stores are raided--no food's available, and the stupid thing is: it just makes the store owners have to raise the prices again. It's a vicious cycle! And so it goes... Just like Katrina. --Such a waste. I look at the Califonians sharing and banding together, and my faith in humanity restores a bit--people reaching out in love and empathy rather than anger...Still, my heart goes out to the hungry. What would you do if your family was starving? I love my charities! Nice to know you're doing something. --Charlie

It still boggles my mind to think of the BILLIONS of dollars that are handed over to fuel a war or send a shuttle into space, but a poor helpless family is still left to suffer right here in our own country!

And, they're still searching for food. Food for their bodies and their souls. Maybe the relief agencies will finally take responsibility and make things right for them. Such a sad commentary on our society.
