I am a cat person. Excellent food is essential for felines, but too much junk food is available for dogs as well. Ernest Hemmingway was a cat person who never trusted a person who did not like cats. I think this is valid for dogs and cats. I like dogs, too, but Rocky and Balboa, our rescue pets, are fantastic felines and give us so much love daily; it's bliss! My recommendation is to include felines, too. Amen

Happy New Year!

Haven't any dogs that lived to be old aged. But they bond easily with what they think we are, the leader of the pack, and will do anything for us until they can't get up from where they lay, like my brothers trusted Golden Retriever who live a happy life by the water, running free and chasing ducks, geese and swans for fun but never catching them.

Roger had Rocky euthanized rather than suffer the pain he was going through.

A beautiful poem and tribute to old dogs. And I'm sure the book will be well done and beautiful to read.

My daughter has recently lost her loyal little Staffie�
There is no doubt the love and loyalty of these devoted old friends�Their loss is as great as a family member�
and the understanding between dog and �master/mistress is at times astounding�

I had dog for fifteen years and she was super special highly intelligent and was partly human in so many aspects, an empath to boot, once I had a migraine had a beanbag on my head she studied me and mimicked me by putting the bean bag on her own forehead it was a sight to see lol

Your dedication to unquestionable friendship is a principal of living with love, but also being love. I share all you said here, as I've had numerous canines during my lifetime, and I long for that kind of friendship again. Unfortunately, the complex I live in doesn't allow pets. But, I find myself seeking out movies from time to time with dogs as the featured player because far too often, with humans, friendship can gradually turn to acquaintances, and that change is not the canine playbook. Thanks for posting. Made my Saturday.
