A speck of dust

Even a speck of dust has it's reasons for being there.

There’s a spot on the glass

And it won’t go away

I wipe incessantly

Twice every day

I stare at the window

Wishing it was gone

Never had I bothered

To look beyond

This house was a prison

Entrapping me

The spot on the window

Enclosed me

Staring through the glass

At that one speck of dust

And there you were

A man I could trust

A melancholy look

A saddened gleam

Staring out at the water

Across my stream

You sat there

An hour or maybe two

You never noticed

I was in front of you

You arrived every day

And each day I’d see

That same sad look

Of melancholy

Perhaps if I were brave enough

If I could just walk outside

Maybe the years

wouldn’t have passed by

The spec of dust

graced my day

I think I’d cry

if it went away

I looked out the glass

And there you were

Another sad day

across the river

Oh if I could hold you

If I could just face the world

I show you there’s hope for a man

When in the arms of a girl

There you are leaving

Cleaning your mess

Wait! Does that tag on your shirt

Say U.P.S.?

I ran through the house

 Throwing paper in a sack

Creating a package

That would be sent right back

I called your work

I set a time

You arrived to me

At five past nine

We talked a while

And I finally seen

The smile hidden

Behind that gleam

This year with you passed

As if in a whirl

You filled my life

And I braved the world

I glanced beyond the window

Where I saw you that day

Then I saw that tiny speck of dust

Fall off and fly away

I looked back into your eyes

As I said I do

You finally noticed

I was always in front of you

Standing draped in white

These vows a sign of trust

For our relationship was fated

By that single speck of dust

A lovely story, Crissy. Sometimes, the smallest things can be powerfully symbolic of much greater ones. Thank you for sharing this gift. Love and best wishes to you,

Regis

This flows very well and excellent use of the spot on the glass that won't go away. This is a good love poem.

Crissy - the smallest detail, the smallest speck, can bend a lever that moves the world. Lovely imagery, lovely pace.

Here's to your speck of dust!

Sometimes the smallest things are the most important. Your speck of dust led to just such a thing. Beautiful write!

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
