Poem in the Feelings Collections

As a member on the Cherry Blossom Festival Committee, I recited this poem in the 1990 for the planting of a Cherry Blossom tree planing in Washington, DC

Tree

If I could be
Something everlasting

It's nothing I
Would rather be
Than being a tree

A tree that stands tall
For all he world to see

A tree that with each season
Changes come to be

A tree that
Sheds its greenery
Whose leaves let you know
The coming of fall

A tree that's been here forever
And sometimes out last us all

A tree that can shield
one from the sun

A tree upon
Which hearts are drawn
When a couple
Wish to become one

A tree that stands tall
For all the world to see

Oh yes, a tree
Is something I wish to be
