Seems as I get older, journeys into the past become more and more vivid.
Claymore Mines and Carnal Knowledge
Contentment fills me as I sit in this deserted diner of Anjung-Ri. The wait is long here.....I being no stranger entertained with a double, the Newport is on me. Slowly the all more frequent rage within begins to spiral down and I am left-Feeling blessed as the cheap house speakers anoint my ears sprinkling sweet sultry sounds of Fiona. Peace.....deep relaxation treks me in reverse to a time of much younger youth. Same sound, same drink, same smoke, standing shirtless in Oxford staring. A mirrored image of a man not yet twenty two.....with the blue steeled eyes of life sunken and cold, body bruised and chiseled down to perfection-A courtesy of drill instructors and light rations. Testosterone bubbling through veins fill the head with images of Claymore Mines and Carnal Knowledge.....anxiously awaiting love's reunion.
AAHHHHHHH....The smokey, sexy voice of Fiona Apple.......You and I have many similar interests my friend. Excellent poetry and I admire your honesty and raw realism HB.
This has my head spinning in all directions as the heat from this write explodes in thought!
One can read this and think you've been playing that video game "Metal Gear" and yet, I can read it and see this actually happening to someone who still waits for that one true love
...and as time goes on and the spirit remembers, youth blasts you onto the dance floor...so to speak, like a chaff grenade!
GREAT TITLE!

This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
