There is nothing to hear
but the sound of one's own
heartbeat as life slowly ticks
away with each beat of the heart
It is just like the ticking of a clock,
slow and methodical ...
Yet, there are no knobs ...
... no pullies even ...
to wind up this clock once it slows
down.
In the end, there is only death.

After reading this I multiplied it by 6 billion. If we could hear every heart beat of every person on earth we wouldn't really hear anything, not even a hum. The sound would be beyond the range of human hearing. We would hear silence. And perhaps that silence would be filled by the thunderous heart beat of God itself. Thanks for the thoughts.
