21 Part 2 (Suicide) (c) Zurrell Loriez 2007

Tomorrow the sun will rise on April 23
But, Lord, I wish I wouldn’t see it.

April 23 1986, on that day birth was given to me
And Tomorrow, today I wish to take it away,
If only I had the nerve to get in the car today
And drive to the grave
The life my mother gave.

I can see it now
On the highway with cruise control
And intentionally steer the wheel to lose control
Swerving and curving
Over the solid line marked to prevent my departure
To end a life that just wasn’t worth serving

I see the headlights coming,
Those high beams of the unfortunate one
Those beams of white light so pure and bright
I imagine I am driving toward my redemption
Then I don’t hear anything, no bang or pang
No blood no hurt no pain.
I then rest peacefully from the life that had driven me insane.

RIP Zurrell Loriez

an intriguing presentation that delves into the fantasized realms of suicidal reality ... some questions come to mind ... did you mother die at birth? when you swerved the car over the solid white line, how did the solid white line prevent your departure and at the same time end a life not worth saving? beside this confusion on my part, i found the poem a intensive psychological journey coveting to preclude its torment while at the same time desiring remedy ...

Some intense lines Brother Poet Zurrell. They take the reader inside a profound experience of emotional trauma and spiritual need.

Please accept my congratulations on your published novel and book of poetry. That's quite a lot to show for "21" years.

Happy Birthday and many more productive years to you and your gifted pen,
Aberjhani
