I See The Cracks Dan Johnson © 26 September, 2013 Cracks In the sidewalk running their jagged edges in such a crazy course Cracks on the mirror show me what vanity tries to hide. Cracks within my soul, my head, my heart...mayhem reigns. My brother says mayhem is a strong word...yet, I see all of the cracks.

Cracks just beget cracks....a pantina , a timelessness short of completely crumbling. Like dignified wrinkles on a face, ah yes, cracks we can only hope we don't fall through. Enjoyed this!

the lovely thing that this poem says to me is that all these cracks and jagged edges are displays of, courage to 'live' and weather the experience with such strength as to not crumble...simply showing a few cracks that indicate character and persevereance.

can't hide a crack I have them allover my pation
but have to be alert for the cracks in life

Aren't cracks simply signs that things move, breath, live? Yes, mayhem reigns, but there is in a cosmic sense, order in that. You seem to have a panoramic, insightful view of it ... well put.

Even though they seem random, even the cracks have a chaotic order to them. A destined path, if you will.
Mayhem is created by the perceived randomness and our attitude towards it.
