The beginning of a series of five line poems-dlj

 Solitaire

Dan Johnson

© 19 March 2014

Just sitting on this hard back chair,

Blues moaning away on the radio,

Night fades deep and dark, no moon to glow.

Loneliness takes up this dust filled space,

While I sit and play another game of solitaire

This audience fills your dusty place,
write another when you care
or share a time to play your ace ...

Nooo! Not solitaire!! I'd. rather play poker or blackjacks, or go watch some TV's if I were alone.

Sandie :o)

Hi Budd: It takes 4 players to play the real mahjong game, but I have played that alone by myself on many occasions. I would just throw the tiles on the table and pick up the tiles one by one; and with each tiled picked my finger would hold it really tight, pressing the tile surface to my finger, felt the shape of the words on the tile and I would guess what the tile was without looking at it. Sometimes my guess was dead on, and sometimes I was wrong; but it was fun to play like that too by myself. :o)

Not me. Solitaire was my mental state of mind for so long that playing it with a deck of cards somehow doesn't sit right with me. I'm still a physically solitary person, but my mind has moved on and left it behind. I am alone, but I'm never lonely.
