I could really feel this one, Elliott. I always wonder about men who stand by women who are clearly in love with someone else, possibly because I’ve never been romantically involved with one who’d do this. And based on what I’ve read about the average man’s level of emotional commitment, it’s unusual to find one who will hold on to a lover despite her lack of devotion. The male’s usually the one who turns off the emotional faucet more easily, or so I’ve read. On some level it’s very romantic, the idea of the male who’ll wait for you to realize the error of your ways and understands you really need him in your life even if you don’t realize the same. But I know from being on the receiving end of unrequited love that it’s very painful to be the one unloved or not loved the same way. Poignant poetry. ~~Nordette
