what becomes of devotion when it follows

its course, elevating into the heavens the source of

passion, true meaning of why ink ever marries the

page?

oh, to feel, to savor, to dance without care,

no reservation or concern for the how or the view,

just letting go to be into what it is we are into -

have you ever been in awe of a dream come true ?

everything you ever wished for no longer waiting for

you somewhere out there, but right in front of you,

staring you in the face, sharing the air that you

breathe every day, the one vision that used to fill so

many days and nights with unsatisfied meetings,

this one and that one eventually falling away as the

search continued over time and space,

knowing full well upon arrival that

this was the one, the one that is now here?

quick pinch myself!

check that i am awake!

yes, sweet prick upon the skin and with open eyes

find that you are here and so am i,

so now what?

i appear a novice fool,

stunned simply by a presence

for the first time since fresh fruits were

initially picked in orchards green,

feeling unsure about where the vines lead,

and as i approach the temple that is you,

so much of my talk seems like windmills

from  a don quixote, stumbling under weak knees,

when in truth, the dragons do exist, my love,

they just bow in your presence

taking a passive stance -

forgive this transgression, please -

really what they want to do is sing and dance

in celebration of omnipotence,

soaring with wings held high in praise

of just how much they want to please,

of just how much they want to give,

of just how much they want to do with you.

filled with welcomed butterflies when

in the presence of the lady, the one, the fairy queen,

the woman who melts my heart with a thought,

draws all breath when an outstretched hand away,

the one for whom all counts in the most critical of

days, the one who deserves to receive everything

from me, for it is she that fills every part of my being

with unsurmountable ecstasy.

for her i fly and sing,

approaching on bended knees

in worship of all i know as art in its highest form,

beauty, intellect and humor,

all is she whom i adore,

and thus with a tender caress of

her lips upon mine,

i release all that's been in reserve,

for compared to her there is nothing more.

Look Away Silence by Edward Patterson

Martin Powers wanted an ironing board for Christmas. Instead, he got . . . Matthew Kieler, a non-returnable gift, but a gift that kept on giving. A powerful tale of survival, compassion and unapologetic love in the time of AIDS.
