She Laid Me Down Beside the Living Waters

Like the clear cool waters running through the Texas Hill Country, we keep going on, in rhythm with nature and the roads we carve as one....

She laid me down beside the living waters.

Fresh cold crystal life flowing over

Millions of years of history

Written in stones, sea shells, sedimentary fossils

A surprise hidden in every rolling rock

Creating the bed on which we rested

One body flat on her back

Looking upwards into heaven

The other on her side

Looking into the future

Hands softly caressing forms

Born of the earth

Dark and light joined at the hip

Yin and Yang swirled in a kiss

Evolution in the revolving energy all around

Time fading into a painted sunset

Hill country kaleidoscope of dreams

Intoxication from sweet breaths exchanged

In the rising heat pulsing through veins

Traced by fingertips and beads of sweat

Gently dripping down the curve of her neck

Flowing like the river down her chest

Disappearing behind the shirt that loosely

Covers her naked mysteries

Pressing firmly against me

As she leans in to drink

Presses her mouth against mine

Passion divinely our own

Rushing white gold pulsing from the underground

Rising over rapids deep and driven

Isolating us into our existence

Solitary confinement in the wide open

Environment freely bound by the unseen

That love between you and me

Strong beyond reality

Eternal as all this majesty

Making this love’s masterpiece

Making love with everything in and around us

We became love.

And then she laid me down beside the living waters.

Look Away Silence by Edward Patterson

Martin Powers wanted an ironing board for Christmas. Instead, he got . . . Matthew Kieler, a non-returnable gift, but a gift that kept on giving. A powerful tale of survival, compassion and unapologetic love in the time of AIDS.
