I loved you for you

From the first day

I first laid my eyes upon you

Even though

Others were cruel to you

Because

You walked with your head facing down

Had low self esteem

Overweight

And

Diagnosed with morbid obesity

One day I took your chin in my hand

And slowly raised your head

I looked into your eyes

And traveled deep down inside

Pass your massive flesh

Until I arrived at your immense spirit

I took you home

And taught you to love yourself again

I encouraged you to eat properly

And exercise regularly

Without ridicule

In no time

A brand new you emerged

But

I think I went a tad bit too far

Because

Now you are the complete opposite

You now walk with your head held high

And your once low self esteem

Has been replaced with conceit

Your now beautiful flesh

Harbors an ugly spirit

More and people noticed you

And you no longer noticed me

You flew the nest one day

Without warning or notice

To be with someone else

And started a family

But

You got too comfortable

And started eating again

And stopped exercising

She,

The one you chose

Desired your flesh

And could care less about your spirit

Now you are back where you started

Begging me to pick up

Your pieces

And begin again

By being your friend
